Honda was reportedly preparing Honda Brio with diesel engine for the Indian market this year. Brio will use 1.2-liter engine common rail i-DTEC which is being tested.
Honda is committed to bring diesel technology to the Indian market. We’re sure Honda’s diesel engine is fitted to India. Honda is conducting a series of tests in multiple locations.
Diesel engine is one of the reasons why Honda was less successful in the Indian market. Since entering the year 1995, Honda failed to bring diesel-engined model which was very popular in India.
The presence of Brio diesel is expected to boost sales of Honda Siel Cars India which became their distributor. In the current fiscal year, sales of diesel cars rose 26 percent while gasoline car fell 18 percent.
Brio gasoline models sold in India since September 2011 and at a price of 395 to 510 thousand rupees. I-DTEC engine was first introduced on the European market. Two models that have been using this machine are the Honda Jazz and the New Civic sedan.
